29 August
Arrive Nairobi 08.50 hours. Collect vehicle. Make base
in town/check kit.
30 August
Collect provisions. 1pm meet representative IMPACT
East Africa. Drive to Naro Moru to camp.
31 August/1 September
Journey to Mt. Kenya. Camping day at Naro Moru.
2 September
Prepare vehicle for the drive to Samburu via Nanyuki and
Isiolo. Visit markets as last food stop before entering
North-eastern desert area.
3/4 September
Visit Samburu National Reserve Conservation projects and
Save The Elephants project
5 September
Journey to Mwea National Reserve to visit Mwea Mission
Hospital, IMPACT project.
6/7/8 September
Repairs to vehicle in Nairobi, tyre, universal joint,
air conditioning belt and fan belt
9 September
Drive 4 hours to Kibwezi to visit IMPACT
Mobile Treatment Unit followed by camping in Naivasha
10 September
Drive through Rift Valley to Londiane through Kericho,
to Kisii
11/12 September
Organisation of equipment and vehicle at Migori
13 September
Organise vehicle ready for the border crossing at Isetiania
near Tarime. Hostel/camping.
14 September
Morning border crossing. 2 hour drive to Musoma. Arrange
currency and purchase provision/water. Stay at Orange Tree
Hotel.
15/16 September
Enter Western corridor of Serengeti to camp for the 2 nights
at the Seronera camp site. Hire guide to travel within Serengeti.
17 September
Drive to Mto wa Mbu at the foot of the Rift Valley
18/20 September
In Arusha visit the Selian Lutheran Hospital, IMPACT's
third project.
21/22 September
Enter Moshi to replenish provisions and prepare for the
journey to Dar Es Salaam via Kilimanjaro.
23 September
Ensure all vehicle checks carried out before driving westwards
towards Iringa
24/25 September
Visit Kisolanza Farm Project and camping overnight.
26 September
Drive to Mbeya, meet local guide to arrange viewing surrounding
areas.
27 September
Visit Katumba and prepare for the border crossing into Zambia.
28 September
Cross into Zambia. 410km journey to Mpika via the Muchinga
mountains. Hostel at Mpika.
29 September
Journey to Kapiri Mposhi via Serenje crossing the Mkushi
river to arrange water activities near Lake Kariba.
30 September
Drive north to Chingola 240 km to visit Chimfunshi
Wildlife Orphanage.
1/4 October
4 days at Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage.
5/6 October
Arrange water activities on the Zambezi.
7 October
Victoria Falls. Final day preparing for return home.
8 October
Livingstone. Return vehicle. Fly to Johannesburg
9 October
Fly to London
